"Petal It Forward" Day!

I've been getting asked this question a lot today... what's "Petal It Forward"?

"Petal It Forward" is a national initiative sponsored by the Society of American Florists to promote the giving of flowers to spread happiness. As noted in our previous blog entry, flowers are scientifically proven to make people feel happy. So, a number of participating florists across the country give away flowers for free on this day every year. In fact, we give away two bouquets to each person... one for them to keep, and one to pass along to someone else, hence the "Petal It Forward" moniker! This event takes place each year on the fourth Wednesday of October.

Sometimes in our busy daily lives, we forget how good it feels to spread happiness. Picking up a bouquet any day of the year to give to someone else is sure to put a smile on their face, and that happiness will last until their fresh flowers fade. And then, of course, you need to get more! ;)
